Clinical Supervision for Qualified and Student Counsellors
A space to pause, reflect and think about your practice
Supervision is an important part of being a therapist. It provides protected time to step back from your client work, think about what is happening in the therapeutic relationship and reflect on your own responses, assumptions and decision-making.
My aim is to provide a supervision relationship that is supportive, collaborative and appropriately challenging. Somewhere you can bring your work honestly without fear of judgement.
My approach to supervision
I see supervision as more than simply discussing individual client cases. It is an opportunity to explore the different layers of therapeutic work: what's happening for the client, what happening between you and the client and what's happening for you as the practitioner.
I work collaboratively, encouraging curiosity and reflection rather than simply providing answers.
My approach is integrative and relational with an awareness of psychodynamic ideas.
Supervision can provide a place to explore:
* Client work and clinical decision-making.
* Therapeiutic relationships and dynamics
* Your responses and internal processes as a practitiioner
* Ethical dilemmas and professional boundaries
* Risk and safeguarding
* Patterns emerging across your work
* Developing confidence and professional clarity.
* The ijmpact of the work on you.
* Continuing professional development.
A supervision relationship that works for you
I believe good supervision should provide both support and challenge.
It should be a place where you can bring uncertainty, difficult cases, mistakes, questions and concerns without feeling that you have to present yourself as the all-knowing practitioner.
At the same time, supervision should help you remain accountable, ethically aware and focused on the needs of your clients.
My role isn't to tell you how to practice, but rather to help you think more deeply about your work so that you can make informed professional decisions.
