Taking the first step

Contacting a counsellor for the first time can feel daunting. You may not know what to say, whether counselling will help or even whether you have a 'big enough' reason to come.

You don't need to have the answers. The first step is simply a conversation.

Your free initial consultation

I offer a free initial consultation so that we can talk about what's bringing you to counselling and what you're hoping for.

It's also an opportunity for you to ask questions and get a sesne of whether I might be the right counsellor for you.

There's no obligation to continue.

Finding the right counsellor is important and it's perfectly okay to take some time to decide.

What are sessions like?

Sessions last for 50 minutes and usually take place weekly or fortnightly.

The content of the sessions will depend entirely on you and what you want to explore. There isn't a set agenda and you don't need to prepare anything beforehand - unless you want to!

Sometimes you may want to talk about something that has happened that week. At other times, we may explore something that has been affecting you for much longer.

We work together to make sense of what is happening and consider what might help.

How long will I need counselling?

There's no fixed answer. 

Some people come for a relatively short period to work through a particulat difficulty. Others find that longer-term counselling gives the the opportunity to explore things more deeply.

We'll review how things are going as we work together.

Fees

£50 per 50 minute session

Sessions can be paid for by card or BACS transfer.

Where are sessions held?

My practice is based in Foxton, near Market Harborough, in a quiet rural setting.

There is off-road parking available.

The location provides a calm and private environment away from the busyness of everyday life.
